CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Susan Johnston started Central Furniture Rescue seven years ago with just an idea and a garage.
The nonprofit gives donated household items to people in need, making sure they can cook a meal, take a shower, have a place to sit and a bed to sleep on.
“Since 2019, we have helped over 4,000 households. That’s 9,000 people impacted. And 46 percent, almost half, are children. So that’s the why,” Johnston said…
