IOWA CITY — A Johnson County jury acquitted a man who claimed self-defense in the fatal shooting of an Iowa City man in March 2025.
The jury, after eight days of testimony, found Antavis Watson, 45, formerly of Iowa City, not guilty of first-degree murder of Elijah Williams, 38, and the attempted murder of the victim’s girlfriend, Mindy Colwell, of Iowa City.
