BUCHANAN COUNTY, Iowa — A 68-year-old Walker man was arrested Thursday, April 30, 2026, after a Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office investigation into alleged online communications with someone he believed was a minor, officials said.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies arrested Jay Michael Balcom at about 12:55 p.m. Balcom was charged with grooming and enticing a minor, both Class D felonies.
Authorities said the investigation found Balcom communicated for several weeks on multiple social media platforms with an individual he believed to be an underage male. Officials alleged Balcom requested lewd images and arranged to meet for the purpose of sexual activity.
