CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Alliant Energy LightLine Bridge is taking shape over the Cedar River, replacing the old CRANDIC railroad bridge washed out in the flood of 2008.
The goal is to make it easier for pedestrians to get to and from the historic neighborhoods. Construction is expected to wrap up this fall.
New connection for historic neighborhoods
Rob Kasper runs the Cedar Valley Nature trail a few times a week. He said the city’s new Alliant Energy LightLine Bridge will make it easier to get from downtown onto the trail.
“It’s gonna cut off about half a mile,” Kasper said. “I work downtown so I can leave the office building and jump right on the trail.”…
