7-time felon sentenced for stealing 15 guns from Waterloo home

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A federal judge in Cedar Rapids has sentenced a man to eight years in prison for stealing over a dozen firearms from a house in Waterloo.

Justin Barnes, 29, from Rock Island, Illinois was sentenced on May 1. He pleaded guilty in November of 2025 to possession of stolen firearms and possessing firearms as a felon.
