Board members, district officials and community members of the Deer Valley Unified School District called for Board Member Kimberly Fisher to resign at its most recent meeting on June 9. The backlash was in response to Fisher performing a gesture widely recognized as a Nazi salute during the governing board meeting on May 26.
“As a public servant, father, grandfather and as a member of this community, I want to make my position unequivocally clear,” Board President Paul Carver said, initially reading from a statement he wrote. “This behavior was not a lapse in judgment — it was a deliberate, disrespectful gesture that fundamentally compromises the dignity of our board.
“This is how Mrs. Kimberly Fisher chooses to act — she thrives off of negative attention and hate and it’s sad.”…
