Winds taper off as temperatures climb to triple-digits for Phoenix area

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Look for warm, sunny and breezy conditions in the Valley today, with a forecast high of 99 degrees this afternoon. That’s six degrees above average for this time of year.

The pressure gradient between high and low pressure in our region is expected to relax after today, finally giving much of Arizona a break from the recent winds. Today, expect one last day of breezy conditions across the state. In the Valley, winds between 10 and 20 miles per hour will gust to 30 miles per hour this morning, but should ease up a bit by the late afternoon hours.

The rest of the week should feature lighter winds and slightly warmer temperatures. Triple-digit heat returns Tuesday through Thursday with highs right near and just above 100 degrees…
