Lincolnville Hometown Festival highlights one of the state’s oldest African American towns

LINCOLNVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – The Lincolnville Preservation and Historical Society is hosting the Lincolnville Hometown Festival, celebrating one of South Carolina’s oldest African American towns.

The two-day event begins Friday, May 29, with an ancestral celebration and family headstone clean-up at Bible Sojourn Cemetery and Mt. Zion Church Cemetery from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Cleaning agents will be provided.

The International African American Museum (IAAM) is partnering with the Lincolnville Preservation and Historical Society. They are dedicated to collecting and digitally archiving Lincolnville family history, photographs, and oral histories from families who lived in the town between 1832 and 1970…
