Ferndale mobile home residents get more time, $70K relocation help after deal with new owner

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — After weeks of organizing, residents at Ferndale Mobile Home Park in North Charleston have reached an agreement with the property’s new owner, New Tide LLC, that provides more time and added relocation support as families prepare to leave the community.

Residents were initially told they had to vacate the park by May 31 after the land was sold to New Tide LLC, a deadline that many said was impossible to meet given the high cost and logistics of moving a mobile home. Families say they were offered incentives such as $1,000 for those who relocated by the deadline, but said that amount fell far short of what it takes to cover permits, transport, utility hookups and contractor work.

Now, the Ferndale Mobile Home Tenant Union says it has negotiated directly with New Tide LLC President Antonio Ribeiro and secured a new relocation timeline and additional assistance. Under the agreement, union families will have until July 22 to relocate from the property…
