North Charleston traffic stop on Ashley Phosphate leads to fentanyl, cocaine arrest

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — North Charleston police arrested a 40-year-old man Wednesday after a traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and ammunition, authorities said.

Officers were conducting proactive patrols around 3:45 p.m. near hotels along Ashley Phosphate Road following reports of weapons and narcotics activity when they spotted a driver not wearing a seat belt, according to the North Charleston Police Department.

Police identified the driver as Vincent Leonard Jones Jr. Officers said they observed Jones making repeated movements toward the driver’s seat area and center console as they followed his vehicle before stopping it near the intersection of Northside Drive and La Quinta Lane…
