For the first time in four years, Goose returned to Firefly Distillery in Charleston, South Carolina, playing to a packed crowd eager to welcome them back. The air was thick with excitement, humidity, and anticipation, but there was also a noticeable emotional weight hanging over the evening following the recent loss of a beloved fan during the band’s Madison Square Garden run. It felt as though the night was destined to acknowledge those emotions.

Goose opened with “Dr. Darkness,” a song that warns of an entity feeding on insecurity while offering false cures and leaving resentment in its wake. The choice set a reflective tone and gave the crowd a chance to process the emotions many had carried into the venue. From there, the band shifted into the playful funk of “Royal,” a cover by The Wood Brothers centered on letting go of burdens and embracing emotional growth. The uplifting energy continued seamlessly into “Atlas” before Goose delivered another cover, Spoon’s “Inside Out.”

With goosebumps running high throughout the crowd and the band’s heartfelt message of love and support still lingering, Goose moved into “Madalena.” The song’s yearning romantic sentiment and desire to freeze time felt especially fitting for a crowd wanting to savor every moment together.

The band then switched gears with “Torero.” Meaning “bullfighter” in Spanish, the song symbolizes the daily struggle of navigating life’s relentless demands. The performance blossomed into a beautiful melodic jam as Rick Mitarotonda unleashed soaring guitar work that left the audience captivated.

To close out the first set, Goose reminded everyone why live music remained such a powerful communal experience. Launching into fan favorite “Animal,” the band had the entire venue on its feet. The grooves seemed to echo throughout Charleston as fans danced, sang, and celebrated being together.

Returning for the second set, Goose shared some lighthearted banter with the crowd before diving into “All I Need.” The energy continued to build with a funky rendition of “Jeff Engborg,” marking just the 13th time the song had been played live. The rare treat had fans smiling, hugging, and dancing as waves of joy spread throughout the venue…
