Charleston County Coroner releases cause of death for 11-month-old found dead in home

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Coroner released the cause and manner of death for an 11-month-old baby found dead inside a home in unsafe living conditions on June 16, 2026, according to North Charleston Police Department officers.

The coroner says the cause of death was determined to be starvation due to neglect and the manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

On July 16, 2026, officers with the NCPD and medical personnel responded to an apartment in the 2200 block of Eleanor Drive. Firefighters performed life-saving efforts, but the infant was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities…
