(WCBD) – Fernando San Diego San Juan, the chief engineer of the container ship MSC Michigan VII, who pleaded guilty to failing to report a hazardous condition and obstructing an investigation following a runaway ship incident in Charleston Harbor in 2024, is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court on Monday, Aug. 10. The MSC Michigan VII, a 997-foot, 74,000-ton container ship, departed from Charleston around 11:45 a.m. on June 5, 2024.
