The Lowcountry’s Lowline is underway. This is more of a linear park to be located on the Charleston peninsula.
The first phase will run about 1.6 miles from Mount Pleasant Street south to Line Street, passing near the North Central, Eastside, Westside and Upper Peninsula neighborhoods. The broader plan eventually extends farther south toward Marion Square.
The first phase is a pedestrian and bicycle corridor along a former rail line, with future extensions reaching closer to downtown. Separate paths will reduce conflicts among walkers, runners, bicycle riders and electric bikes.
