Internet comedian opens up about loss, vulnerability ahead of Charleston Music Hall show

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — Comedian KevOnStage is bringing his one-man comedy tour, “Grief Sucks,” to the Charleston Music Hall this Sunday.

Kevin Fredericks, a television producer and social media influencer who is known professionally as KevOnStage, said the show draws from personal loss, including the death of his first friend, manager and brother Jason Fredericks, who passed away four years ago.

‘Baring my soul on that stage’

Fredericks said the show differs from his typical comedy sets because of the weight of the subject matter.

“This isn’t grief in theory. This isn’t about a person in theory. This is about a person that was very important to me,” Fredericks said. “I think this is probably the deepest, most authentic and most vulnerable I’ve ever been on stage. I’m kind of baring my soul on that stage.”…
