LOWCOUNTRY, S.C. (WCIV) — Several school districts have released statements Friday, responding to parents’ complaints that school buses have been operating without air conditioning at a time when temperatures are anticipated to reach a record high throughout the Lowcountry.
Initially, Charleston County School District Superintendent Anita Huggins took to Facebook to address the complaints, stating that she is a mom too and understands the concern. She spent the majority of her post explaining what was happening and how the district is working to remedy the issue.
“The buses experiencing the most significant A/C issues are state-owned buses. I have been in direct contact with State Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver about this issue, including yesterday, and we have been communicating with State Department officials for some time. Our Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Borowy, has also been in direct contact with the State Department’s Chief of Staff,” Huggins stated in her post…
