CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — Drivers traveling along Savannah Highway in West Ashley could soon see changes at two busy intersections as Charleston County moves forward with a $5.5 million improvement project.
The county has spent years developing plans to address traffic flow and safety concerns at Wappoo Road and Savannah Highway as well as at Dupont Road and Stinson Drive. Tonight, county staff are officially recommending that the Charleston County Council award a construction contract for the project.
The county finance committee is scheduled to consider the contract Thursday before it goes to the County Council next week for final approval. If approved, construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027…
