Former North Charleston councilman faces contempt hearing over unpaid judgment

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A former North Charleston city councilman is expected to appear in court Wednesday after failing to pay a nearly $1 million civil judgment.

The payment is connected to a lawsuit involving a shooting at the Blue Note Bistro in North Charleston in 2022.

New court documents show Mike A. Brown recently told federal probation officers that he jointly runs two restaurants — Good Vibes Only and Gullah and Grooves. But in state court, Brown swore under oath that he has “no involvement” with either business and acts only as an independent music consultant…
