FIRST ALERT WEATHTER DAY: Air Quality Alert for the Lowcountry today

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — Have you been smelling smoke over the last 24 hours?

Distant wildfires in parts of Georgia and South Carolina have lofted smoke high into the sky, and southerly/southwesterly winds have carried the smoke into the Lowcountry. Some of the smoke is making its way down to the surface, and this is negatively impacting air quality.

An Air Quality Alert is in effect through Thursday night. Avoid spending prolonged time outdoors, if you can. With smoke in the area, it is best to keep windows and doors closed, especially if you suffer from allergies and/or any type of respiratory condition…
