JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – After sitting abandoned for five years, a large boat off James Island was finally removed from a Lowcountry waterway.
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources took a 60-foot barge out near the Wappoo Cut. Some may have seen it sticking out of the water on Wappoo Bridge over the years.
“People who live, work, and travel along the Wappoo Cut – this barge has been more than an eyesore,” Jenny Costa Honeycutt, council member for Charleston County, said. “It’s been an ongoing safety concern in one of its busiest waterways.”…
