NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Local law enforcement responded Saturday after a witness posted a social media video showing officers standing over a handcuffed bicyclist lying on the ground following a crash at a McDonald’s on Ashley Phosphate Road.
In the video posted Friday, officers can be seen kneeling on the man’s legs. The man involved is believed to be the bicyclist who was struck by a motor vehicle. Officers involved in the situation then stand up after kneeling on his leg and stand over him for the duration of the video while the witness describes, emotionally, what she saw.
North Charleston police, a day later, said it is “aware of a video” circulating online and revealed that “NCPD’s Office of Professional Standards has conducted a review of the use of force associated with this incident and determined that the conduct of the NCPD’s officers involved was within department policies and procedures,” according to the local law enforcement agency…
