(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Monday is starting off warm and humid across the Charlotte metro with early morning temperatures in the low to mid 70s. A few clouds are hanging around, but overall conditions are much quieter than what we’ll see later in the week. Humidity remains elevated, and it’s another typical July morning with that familiar sticky feel already in place before sunrise.

As we head through the afternoon, sunshine will mix with developing clouds, helping temperatures climb into the lower 90s across the metro. Heat index values will push close to or just above 100 degrees during peak heating. A few isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible later Monday afternoon and evening, mainly after 2 PM. Coverage won’t be widespread, but any storm that develops could produce brief heavy rain, gusty winds, and frequent lightning.
