DAVIDSON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Officials in towns in and around Mecklenburg County are finalizing their stances on the controversial Interstate 77 South toll lanes.
The decisions come ahead of a vote by the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization later this month on whether to reinstate support for the project between uptown and the South Carolina line. The municipalities against it will be on the hook for the tens of millions of dollars the state has spent designing the plans.
Davidson town commissioners talked about their position Tuesday night. It’s hard to say which way they are leaning. Right now, they’re trying to balance what’s best for their community and what’s best for those who will be most affected by the toll lanes.
