CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – The annual United Negro College Fund “Women Who Lead” Luncheon returns Saturday, raising money for college scholarships while honoring women making an impact in Charlotte.
The goal this year is to raise more than half a million dollars. Dr. Tonya McLeod is one of this year’s honorees.
A connection to Maya Angelou
The luncheon is named after poet, civil rights activist, and humanitarian Maya Angelou. McLeod was invited to Angelou’s home in 2013, the year before Angelou died.
