Nearly 700 traffic stops made in CMPD Uptown high-visibility enforcement operation

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Nearly 700 traffic stops and almost 100 arrests have been made in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police’s Center City Weekend High-Visibility Enforcement operation.

The safety initiative is aimed at preventing violence, reducing nightlife-related disorder, and improving public safety in Uptown Charlotte’s busiest areas. Officers are also working to ensure vendors are complying with alcohol regulations.

The year-to-date results of the operations are:

  • 698 traffic stops
  • 331 citations
  • 99 arrests
  • 101 ABC inspections
  • 18 noise ordinance violations

Officers have seized approximately 470 grams of narcotics, 34 illegal firearms, and five vehicles…
