HUNTERSVILLE – The Huntersville Town Board moved forward with a project and a policy that have both generated significant discussion in recent months, approving the acquisition of property needed for a future downtown parking deck and adopting an ordinance regulating electric-assisted bicycles on Sept. 15.
As part of the consent agenda, the board adopted a resolution authorizing the town to acquire about 0.7 acres at 107 N. Maxwell St., directly across from the American Legion, to construct a proposed downtown parking deck.
According to the board’s resolution, the town attempted to acquire the property through negotiations but was unable to do so. The resolution therefore authorizes the town to pursue acquisition through eminent domain under North Carolina law…
