The Concord Police Department said it happened around 10:30 a.m. in a wooded area near railroad tracks off of Highway 29, by Kannapolis Highway.
Police said the victim was shot twice in an armed robbery. They were taken to the hospital but their injuries aren’t life-threatening, police said.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom could see dozens of officers combing the woods and several businesses in the area. The region includes dozens of restaurants, a hospital, and Carolina Mall.
Investigators said the suspects and victim know each other, adding they don’t believe the incident was a random act.
Now, police are asking for help from the public. They have been able to arrest one suspect in the case but not the other.
A warrant for robbery with a dangerous weapon was issued for 32-year-old John Christopher Meece, investigators said. He was arrested and taken to the Cabarrus County jail, where he was given a $250,000 bond.
