Charlotte Woman Found Unconscious Dies; Boyfriend Arrested in Mississippi

Charlotte, NC — In a tragic turn of events, a 21-year-old woman, Nataly Martinez, was discovered unconscious in her home and subsequently passed away at a local hospital. Police have arrested her boyfriend, 25-year-old Freddy Renteria, in Mississippi in connection with her death. While the exact cause of Martinez’s death remains undisclosed, law enforcement initially charged Renteria with attempted murder, later updating it to a murder charge.

The incident unfolded on Thursday around 3:30 a.m. when officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a call at the 8400 block of Strider Drive in southeast Charlotte. After discovering Nataly Martinez in critical condition, emergency medical services transported her to Novant Health Matthews Medical Center.

As the investigation progressed, police issued an arrest warrant for Freddy Renteria on charges of attempted murder. However, on Friday, they elevated the charge to murder. During the pursuit of Renteria in Mississippi, he reportedly attempted to take his own life and was subsequently taken to a local hospital for treatment.
