CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Duke Energy CEO Harry Sideris’ salary ranked sixth among top CEO pay last year, according to a recent report from the Energy and Policy Institute.
He started the job making nearly $8 million a year, and since the Charlotte-based company made nearly $5 billion in profit in 2025 and roughly $32 billion in revenue, he’s now set for a pay increase.
The Institute’s researchers say utility companies nationwide paid their executives a total of $626 million in 2025.

“So when we broke that down and looked at the average, that’s about $12.4 million, the average salary for a utility CEO,” said Sue Sturgis, the Institute’s Research and Communications Manager. “And you’ll see that even though Duke Energy split its CEO compensation last year between two people — Lynn Good was the CEO through April — Harry Sideris took over after April. Harry Sideris, even in those eight months, made more than the national average.”…
