Shootings, fight break out at Cleveland County rodeo property

SHELBY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Cleveland County rodeo property was a hot spot for violence over the weekend, the sheriff’s office says.

Deputies responded to multiple shootings and a fight at the Bar H Arena on Holly Hill Road, outside of Boiling Springs. Sheriff Alan Norman says that organizers for private events held there lack adequate security to properly manage the large crowds and address issues that arise.

Around 11:12 p.m. May 15, deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the venue. They found two subjects who had been shot by rifle rounds. The victims were transported to the local emergency room with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

In preparation for the event the sheriff’s office staged additional resources and manpower in the area to keep the roads clear…
