ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — The Virginia Poultry Growers Cooperative plans to invest $113.9 million to expand its operations in Rockingham County, a move expected to create 146 jobs and significantly boost agricultural production in the Shenandoah Valley.
Gov. Abigail Spanberger announced the project Tuesday during an event in Harrisonburg, calling the investment a major step for Virginia’s agricultural economy.
According to state officials, the expansion includes the construction of a nearly 2-million-cubic-foot feed mill and grain processing facility that will provide the largest grain storage capacity on the East Coast.
