A Flood Watch is in effect area wide through Thursday Evening in Southeast Tennessee and SW North Carolina. The Watch will continue through Friday Evening for local counties in Georgia and Alabama.
A slow moving cold front will drift north to south and stall south of Chattanooga through Thursday and Friday. This could allow for slow moving showers and storms that could produce heavy downpours at times. Excessive runoff and localized areas of flooding could occur. The highest rain chances will be in the vicinity of the front,. So, there will be some areas locally getting heavy downpours while others may not receive much at all. Daily highs being held in the 80s.
That stalled front should begin lifting back to the north on Saturday which could continue a chance for periods of showers and storms area wide. By Sunday, a drier and hotter pattern returns with highs back in the 90s…
