Man convicted of raping teen arrested in Nashville after fleeing Chattanooga trial

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man convicted of statutory rape was arrested by U.S Marshals in Nashville Wednesday after he allegedly fled his trial in Chattanooga earlier this month.

The U.S. Marshals Service said James Harold Tolliver, 67, was on trial for the 2023 rape of a teenage runaway in Chattanooga when he disappeared on April 9, which was the third day of his trial.

Despite his absence, Tolliver was found guilty by a Hamilton County jury of assault and aggravated statutory rape, USMS said…
