VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A TFC Recycling Truck dumped recycling material Thursday afternoon due to heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the vehicle, according to the Virginia Beach Police Department.
Crews were dispatched to a reported commercial fire in the court of Glastonbury Drive and Montour Court at approximately 2:05 p.m.
When crews arrived, they found that a TFC Recycling Truck had dumped its load of recycling material into the middle of the court due to heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the truck.
“This is what can happen when lithium-ion batteries are improperly placed in recycling containers or when smoking materials, fireworks, and ashes from grills, fire pits, or fireplaces are discarded before they are completely extinguished,” VBFD wrote in a Facebook post…
