Developers withdraw application to build battery energy storage system in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Developers hoping to build a battery energy storage system in Chesapeake have officially withdrawn their application.

The Mill Stone Energy Center projectwas supposed to be voted on by city council Tuesday night. But on the same day that public hearing was set to take place to decide the future of the project, an agent submitted a request to withdraw their application. Last month, the city’s planning commission had recommended that City Council deny the project.

“One of the things that we learned through this process is that a substantial amount of information is really needed to support these applications,” the agent said during the meeting Tuesday…
