VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach woman has filed a federal lawsuit alleging her apartment complex is illegally evicting her because of a fire that prosecutors say was intentionally set by her former boyfriend.
The lawsuit, filed July 21 in federal court, names Shanidra Osborne as the plaintiff and Twin Canal Associates and the property’s management companies as defendants. Osborne is represented by the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia.
According to the lawsuit, Osborne received an eviction notice tied to a June 2025 fire at her apartment in the Twin Canal Village Apartments. Fire officials said the blaze was intentionally set. The fire killed Osborne’s cat and destroyed her apartment…
