VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — James King had been convicted of sexually assaulting and killing Lexie Walters in Virginia Beach in 2020. King, 73, is eligible for geriatric release in Virginia.
Escaped prisoner who was caught in Mexico is at large again
Walters’ sister, Marie Jones, had to go to his first parole hearing about a year ago to advocate for keeping King behind bars. The process reopened the wounds of trauma when she lost her sister, and those wounds have been reopened yet again, as King is up for an appeal hearing next month.
Jones recently finished talking to the parole board earlier this summer. It may take between two and four months for the court to decide on his appeal.
