The Historical Village at the Dismal Swamp will officially be open to the public this week. A ribbon cutting will be held Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 11 a.m.
The Historical Village at the Dismal Swamp now includes the Visitor Center, Cornland School, Underground Railroad Exhibit, and Maroon Communities Exhibit.
The Village and its exhibits will help tell the story of the swamp, the canal, and the history of the people who lived and worked, farmed, and played in the area.
