NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — John Knox Towers, a 12-story high rise for seniors in the city’s Ghent neighborhood, has both of its elevators working again.
One of its elevators had been out of order since late April, however, renovations to the building’s first floor have created new disruptions for the approximately 200 residents who live there.

Resident Bill Newell has lived here for 10 years overall, and said it should have taken property management three months to repair in a building where many people have trouble getting around to begin with.
“I believe it’s progress,” Newell said in a Monday morning interview. “I don’t understand why it took since April 24 to do that, why all of a sudden it could be done. And it didn’t happen until the media started coming here,” including reports by 10 On Your Side. “The net result of that was miraculously, within a week, we had some repairs.”…
