Suffolk Health Department warns of rabies after raccoon tests positive

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Suffolk Health Department announced that a raccoon recently tested positive for rabies within the city limits.

According to officials, the raccoon was picked up by a concerned member of the public who was driving through the 3000 block of Lake Cohoon Road.

Due to the extent of its symptoms and health condition, the raccoon was humanely euthanized and tested for rabies…
