CHICAGO – State Rep. Kam Buckner (D-26th) believes the Bears still want to make an Illinois stadium work.
Fans went into a frenzy on June 5, when the team issued a statement announcing the Bears Board of Directors voted to advance their stadium development project in Hammond, Indiana. But Buckner doesn’t think they are anywhere near the finish line.
“When you look at statements that come out like this, you know, it wasn’t a press conference in the state of Indiana with a ticker-tape parade. It was a Friday afternoon news dump that didn’t have a whole lot built around it, so I’m still confident we’re going to find a way to get this done,” Buckner told WGN Sports’ Josh Frydman. “The Bears have indicated that they still want to continue to talk with Illinois and figure out how to make it happen, and I’m looking forward to those conversations.”
