A man was left in critical condition after someone opened fire from a dark-colored SUV on a West Town street, striking him twice in the chest. Chicago police officers responded to the 1500 block of West Augusta Boulevard at 8:33 p.m. Saturday after receiving a call about a person shot, and the victim was rushed to a nearby Level 1 trauma center to fight for his life.
According to police, a dark-colored SUV drove by the victim’s location before an unknown person opened fire from inside the vehicle, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times. Chicago Fire Department personnel treated the man at the scene before he was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Police described the victim only as a male of undisclosed age, and no further details about his identity have been released.
The shooting falls within the boundaries of the Chicago Police Department’s 12th (Near West) District, which covers West Town, Humboldt Park, East Village, and the Near West Side. A Block With a Violent History
This is not the first time the 1500 block of West Augusta Boulevard has drawn police attention.
