A 28-year-old man has been given a six-year sentence for robbing three casino customers in Chinatown and River North, but with the state’s standard 50% sentence reduction and other credits, he’ll be out late next year.
Willie Greenwood pleaded guilty in exchange for the sentence imposed by Judge Timothy Joyce. Joyce ordered the sentences to run concurrently, even though Greenwood committed one of the robberies while on pretrial release.
In March 2025, a Chicago police tactical unit was patrolling Chinatown in search of a vehicle that had been used in a string of robberies. All of the victims told police they were targeted after getting off a casino shuttle.
