UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) — Some West Clermont School District parents are voicing concerns after learning their children may not be able to attend the elementary school they have attended for years through the district’s Building-to-Building Transfer program.
The program allows families to apply for their child to attend a different elementary school than the one assigned based on their home address. For several years, many parents said those requests were routinely approved. This year, however, some families received notice that their transfer requests could not be granted.
Ashley Fay said her daughter, who will be entering second grade next school year, has attended Holly Hill Elementary even though the family lives closer to Merwin Elementary. Fay said the arrangement has been critical for her daughter’s success.
“She has anxiety. She has a bunch of other medical needs, and they understand how to do it,” Fay said. “They’ve become our safe space at her school.”…
