COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) – Covington leaders are looking to turn hundreds of vacant lots into housing they say working families can afford, part of a broader push to attract more residents and investment to the city.
Mayor Ron Washington said Covington has more than 200 vacant lots, and the city is trying different approaches to redevelop them quickly and efficiently. The goal is to find the right mix of workforce housing to entice more people to move to the city and encourage more companies to locate there.
“Get [the properties] into the hands of developers and put families into those homes and, you know, kind of rebuild those blocks,” Washington said. “And by putting people back into those blocks that are contributing. We’re really excited about what we’re doing in our little way.”…
