Beshear says Louisville bridge tolls could be lower; suggests way to pay them down

COVINGTON, Ky. — It’s an historic moment for one of the region’s most talked-about infrastructure projects.

On Friday, officials from Kentucky, Ohio, and the federal government broke ground on the more than $4 billion Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project, which includes adding a companion bridge to the one that’s connected hundreds of thousands of drivers between Covington and Cincinnati every day for decades.

At the groundbreaking event, both Gov. Andy Beshear (D-Ky.) and U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) doubled down on the promise that the new companion bridge will be toll free…
