Strong storms Monday night into Tuesday morning

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — All modes of severe weather are possible Monday night into Tuesday morning.

An Enhanced Risk (level 3/5) has been issued for northwestern counties, including portions of: Stewart, Houston, Trigg, Christian, and Todd counties.

A Slight Risk (level 2/5) has been issued for most of Middle Tennessee, while a Marginal Risk (level 1/5) has been issued for far eastern counties for Monday into Tuesday morning.

The storms will ramp up overnight, however, with current model data, it doesn’t look like storms start coming into Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky until close to midnight. Storms will push from the northwest to the southeast through Tuesday morning with the threat ending by the mid-morning.

All modes of severe weather are possible. This includes large hail, gusty winds, heavy rain, and the possibility for tornadoes. The tornado threat will likely reach the medium level with ingredients for rotation becoming more prominent.

Moisture, shear, and helicity will increase ahead of storms coming in, making the environment primed for strong storms. Instability will likely be high, but if storms come in earlier, they could be stronger.
