Clarksville mayor calls for 31-cent tax hike

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Raising property taxes is never a popular idea, but in his last budget before leaving office, Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts feels it’s necessary.

In his final budget proposal, Pitts recommended a 31-cent property tax hike, or $1.23 per $100 of a home’s assessed value. That’s up from the four-cent city property tax hike imposed last year.

For someone with a $400,000 home, that would mean paying $1,230 a year for city property tax, which is an increase of about $300 per year…
