Record heat possible w/ strong storms Friday

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A hot day with record heat possible before strong to severe storms develop across the Tampa Bay area.

A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. There is also a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms this evening.

Skies will be hazy again, with Saharan dust lingering. Temps will soar into the mid-90s this afternoon. Feels like temps will be up to 110 degrees.

Spotty storms develop mid-afternoon and will push toward the coast this evening. Strong to severe winds are possible in one or two of the storms.

A similar pattern is in place on Saturday with hot and hazy afternoon, along with evening storms drifting west.

The Saharan dust will be even denser by Sunday and will limit rain chances to just a 20%. This denser plume will stay in place through the middle of next week.
