Detectives with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office are asking the public to help track down 32-year-old Xzavelis Tyler, who is wanted on a felony warrant accusing him of domestic violence aggravated battery on a pregnant female or great bodily harm. The alert went out Wednesday as part of the agency’s recurring #teamHCSO campaign, which puts a spotlight on outstanding felony warrants across the county.
According to the HCSO post, detectives are specifically requesting information about Tyler’s current whereabouts. Anyone with tips is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 813-247-8200. HCSO describes its mission as working to protect and defend the community while preserving the rights and dignity of everyone involved, including, notably, suspects who have not yet been convicted of any crime.

Under Florida Statute § 784.045, battery becomes a second-degree felony the moment the offender knows the victim is pregnant, according to the Florida Senate. Florida Statute § 921.0022 goes further, ranking aggravated battery on a pregnant victim as a Level 7 offense on the state’s Criminal Punishment Code severity chart, per Online Sunshine, a classification that helps set the minimum prison exposure a judge can impose if Tyler is convicted.
